I’ve spent years trying skincare.
New moisturiser, new serum, new active, new exfoliant, then a new “barrier repair” product to calm down whatever the last product did.
That has always been part of my skincare journey. I like skincare. I like reading ingredient lists, trying new things and figuring out what actually deserves a place in a routine.
But my own skin was constantly irritated.
Sometimes I was over-exfoliating. Sometimes I’d stop everything and feel like I wasn’t doing enough. I’d find a moisturiser I liked, use it for a month, decide it was too heavy, then move on to the next one.
My skin was always slightly red, slightly uncomfortable, slightly in recovery.
Eventually, my routine started getting smaller.
And my skin started getting better.
DEW came out of that.
I wanted something I could use every day that wasn’t another treatment, but that still felt like it was genuinely improving the condition of my skin, whatever state it was in. Something that could make my skin feel softer, calmer and better supported without adding another active, another complex or another ten ingredients I didn’t really need.
So the formula is deliberately simple.
Squalane is the main event. It’s a stable, lightweight emollient with excellent skin compatibility that helps soften the skin and reduce moisture loss. It does a relatively simple job, but it does it extremely well.
Then there’s Hemisqualane.
This is what stops DEW from feeling like a traditional face oil. It is lighter and lower-viscosity, so it spreads quickly, settles beautifully and leaves the skin glossy and soft without that lingering oily feeling.
And finally, Bisabolol.
I wanted one ingredient in the formula whose job was simply to make skin feel more comfortable. Bisabolol is widely used for its soothing and skin-conditioning properties, making it a natural fit for skin that is easily stressed, reactive or just tired of being messed with.
That’s really the whole idea.
Not a serum that promises to transform your skin in seven different ways.
Not another product that exfoliates, resurfaces or asks your skin to do more.
Just a very light lipid serum that helps skin feel softer, calmer and more like itself again.
I use it when my skin feels dry.
I use it after retinoids.
I use it when I’ve overdone things.
I use it when I don’t want to think about skincare at all.
And because its extremely light it layers really well with whatever I pair it with, but also performs as a serious skin barrier treatment.
It became that product I just know my sensitive, oily, fragrance-allergic, whacky skin would always appreciate.
